Biography

Andrew G Hawkins, AIA is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Architecture at Texas A&M University and also the principal architect of Hawkins Architecture Inc., a Texas-based practice that focuses on public project types.  Andrew has written for national and regional architectural publications and industry websites as well as presented on various topics at conferences in Texas, the United States, and internationally. He is active in the AIA and has held several local and state-level positions over the last decade. Most recently, he was the VP for Communications with the Texas Society of Architects (2020 & 2021), the State component of AIA in Texas. Andrew is also the co-host of the “Life of an Architect” podcast, one of the most popular architecture focused podcasts in production. Andrew believes in sustainable design, technology in practice, and the power of thoughtful architecture. His interests include sustainability, architectural envelopes, tectonic expression, public architecture, and the architectural process.
