Semester Away Initiatives
The College of Architecture believes cultural competency and industry experience is essential to student success in a globalized workforce. We are committed to providing global perspectives and/or real work experience to our students before graduation. Through our semester away initiative, you’ll gain critical life experiences and become a better citizen of the world.
All undergraduate students must spend one semester away. This requirement can be met in one of three ways:
Study Abroad
We offer students many opportunities to travel the world. Through study abroad programs, you’ll take courses relevant to your degree and surroundings. Study abroad programs are faculty led.

Reciprocal Exchange
Texas A&M partners with universities around the world to offer a reciprocal educational exchange program. You’ll take classes at a partner institution while living and learning with students from your host country. Reciprocal exchange is one of the most independent and immersive ways to study abroad.
