Student-Led Innovation: Construction Science Department Recognizes Winning Ideas

Congratulations to the winners of the inaugural Innovation Ideas Competition and Research Program (I2CRP) in the Department of Construction Science, funded by the Construction Industry Advisory Council (CIAC). Maryam Abbasi Kamazani wins Best Paper for optimizing embodied energy at Net Zero Carbon Conference

Maryam Abbasi Kamazani was awarded Best Paper at the 1st International Conference on Net Zero Carbon Built Environment for her research titled "Addressing Environmental Impacts of Buildings Through the Optimization of Embodied Energy Factor." Her study, conducted under the supervision of Dr. Manish K. Dixit, focuses on minimizing the environmental footprint of buildings by addressing both operational and embodied energy. This innovative work introduces the embodied energy factor, a metric that helps architects and builders balance energy efficiency with reduced environmental impact in construction. Kamazani's research is part of a larger NSF-funded project and will be featured in Building and Environment.
