Though the College of Architecture is a leader in the application of
technology to the design process, students also focus on the more
tactile aspects of design and construction, from model building to the
construction of large scale prototype designs, like the solar home
designed and constructed by students for the U.S. Department of
Energy's Solar Decathlon. The college's woodshop in the
Langford B building and its Digital Fabrication Facility at
Texas A&M's Riverside Campus provide students with the tools and
machinery needed to realize the structures they imagine. Additionally,
the college's numerous industry partners facilitate student field
trips to construction sites around Texas, providing a first-hand look
at construction industry practices.
