Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) | About

Spend your summer in College Station conducting state-of-the-art research in digital construction and sustainable design.

The Texas A&M University Department of Construction Science invites students to apply for the first cohort of the National Science Foundation-funded REU program. This 10-week, on-site program offers 10 selected students the opportunity to collaborate with leading researchers on the future of the built environment.

The program is designed to build student confidence in conducting high-level research and to provide a clear pathway toward graduate studies in construction science.

Participant Benefits

Selected researchers will receive comprehensive support and professional development throughout the summer, including:

  • Faculty Mentorship: Direct supervision by Department of Construction Science faculty with opportunities to co-author scientific papers.

  • Professional Growth: Regularly scheduled seminars focused on academic and personal development, featuring guest presentations from industry leaders.

  • Site Visits & Facilities: Field trips to innovative firms in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, alongside full access to the college’s state-of-the-art laboratories and interdisciplinary centers.

  • Networking & Community: Social events including a welcome BBQ and engagement activities with other REU cohorts across the Texas A&M campus.

  • Campus Access: Full use of university libraries, athletic facilities, and health services.

Financial Support

  • Stipend: Each participant receives a $6,000 stipend awarded as a competitive scholarship.

  • Travel: Round-trip travel costs between the student’s home base and College Station will be reimbursed.

  • Housing: * External Participants: On-campus housing is provided and required for the duration of the program.

    • Texas A&M Students: Internal participants may choose to utilize provided program housing or receive a housing allowance.

    • Note: Participants are responsible for their own food expenses.

Eligibility Requirements

Per the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, male recipients must provide proof of meeting Selective Service registration requirements or documentation of exemption upon starting the program.
