Biography

Hu joins Texas A&M from the University of Florida, where she served as chair of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning and associate director of the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning. Previously, Hu served as a professor and chair of the Department of Urban Planning at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

She earned both her Ph.D. in policy, planning and development and her master’s in planning from the University of Southern California. She also holds a bachelor’s in planning from Nanjing University.

As a scholar, Hu studies how transportation and land use shape equity, with a focus on environmental justice, public health and inclusive urban policy. She is co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Planning Education and Research and has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles. Her research has secured more than $5.2 million in external funding.
