Biography

Benjamin Ennemoser is an Assistant Professor and Harold L. Adams ’61 Endowed Professor for Interdisciplinary Studies in Architecture at Texas A&M University, where his research advances the translation of artificial intelligence tools into architectural design, education, and the built environment. He joined the Department of Architecture in 2022, following teaching appointments at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of Innsbruck, and experience as a consultant, designer, and technology lead at Google R&D for the Built Environment, Gensler DxD, and Carvana.

His research focuses on three interconnected trajectories: expanding data sources and accessibility for AI tools in architecture, developing methodologies for AI interpretability and human-machine collaboration, and advancing AI literacy across architectural education. His work has been published in leading venues including Automation in Construction, Cities, the International Journal of Architectural Computing (IJAC), Architectural Design (AD), and the proceedings of ACADIA, eCAADe, and ACSA, and has been supported by grants from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture, the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS), the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), and OpenAI through the NextGenAI Consortium. His research has been recognized with the Architizer Vision Award and the J. Thomas Regan Interdisciplinary Faculty Prize from the College of Architecture.

In the classroom, Ennemoser connects research directly to teaching, from coordinating the 2nd-year undergraduate design studio sequence for approximately 200 students annually to developing the new cross-departmental course AI Literacy for the Built, Natural, and Virtual Environment, offered across all departments of the College of Architecture. His pedagogy has been recognized with the Montague-CTE Scholar Award, consecutive Department of Architecture Undergraduate Teaching Awards, the Texas Society of Architects Studio Award, and an AIA Dallas Design Competition Honorable Mention.

At Texas A&M, he serves as Faculty Fellow for AI in the Dean’s Office of the College of Architecture and as the COA representative on the Texas A&M University AI Steering Committee. At the national and international level, he is an elected member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Steering Committee of the Association for Computer-Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA), the leading global organization for computational design research. He is a licensed architect in the European Union.
