Our programs grew out of the Visualization Laboratory established in 1988. Twenty years later, we became a department housed in the College of Architecture.
Visualization is housed in Langford C at Texas A&M University. Watch a virtual tour of our facilities.
Where Art and Science Merge
Advances in technology have spurred a modern renaissance in visualization. In the European Renaissance, artists were also scientists, architects, and engineers. Today’s artists combine these older disciplines with new ones, including computer science, videography and psychology.
We train technical artists to work on the collaborative teams necessary to make modern visualizations. Our programs produce leaders in the fields where art and science merge.
Academic Excellence
The Department of Visualization offers cross-disciplinary programs with faculty expertise including computer graphics, art, design, and visualization and interaction.
Undergraduate Major and Minors

The Aggie Difference
Industry Connections
Each year, we engage with the Aggie network and professional connections to introduce students to potential employers. Our career fair provides networking opportunities for potential employees and employers.
Travel Opportunities
Our undergraduate students enhance their education by spending one semester away away from the university. We encourage students to travel to Italy or Germany with our study abroad programs, or to intern with a professional visualization company.
Financial Support
Each academic year, our department awards over $40,000 in scholarships. Donors who partner with the Texas A&M Foundation make these scholarships possible.
