Video games help students master calculus

Almost 10,000 students in more than 30 schools have gotten help with introductory calculus, one of the toughest classes for university undergraduates, by playing “Variant: Limits,” a videogame developed in part by students in the LIVE Lab in the Department of Visualization.

The game, which helps students master key calculus concepts, is a revolutionary learning experience with rigorous educational value and commercial videogame-style gameplay.

There are three more groundbreaking video games created in part in the LIVE Lab that teach art history.
