About the Program

The online Master of Science in Construction Management program at Texas A&M University innovates on traditional construction methods. This competitive, multidisciplinary program allows anyone around the world to pursue an advanced degree in construction science, but is meant primarily for those within the industry to continue their education while still working in the field.

The online Master of Science in Construction Management is designed primarily for those with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction science, or business who want to break into construction management and for working professionals in the architecture, engineering, and construction industries who want to pursue an advanced degree while continuing to work in the field. Our innovative, industry-targeted approach will teach you to leverage critical thinking, processes, and construction technology, and will prepare you for leadership roles within the construction industry, including the commercial, industrial, civil, and residential construction sectors.

Why Get Your MS in Construction Management at Texas A&M?

Collaborative, but Flexible, Online Learning

Our online courses involve synchronous meeting times that allow students to obtain immediate feedback from faculty and peers. Lectures are also recorded for those who cannot make a scheduled class time due to professional commitments. The Master of Science in Construction Management is a 36-credit-hour program with a flexible curriculum. If you are trying to break into the industry, you can focus on foundational courses. If you are already an industry professional, you can advance your career by taking specialty courses in areas like project management, construction technology, and sustainable construction.  Candidates typically enroll in two courses per semester, which allows you to reach eligibility to graduate within three years. You’ll also have flexibility as to how many courses to enroll in each semester, subject to university program rules.

Curriculum

Foundational Courses (12 Credits)

All students take these foundational courses:

    • COSC 601 Construction Practices* (3 credits)

    • COSC 602 Construction Cost Estimating* (3 credits)

    • COSC 603 Construction Scheduling* (3 credits)

    • COSC 621 Advanced Project Management* (3 credits)

* May be waived if a similar course has been completed at an undergraduate or graduate construction management program accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) or ABET.

Elective Courses (24 credits)

To complete your MS in Construction Management degree, you’ll take an additional 21 credits, consisting of classes such as:

    • COSC 620 Construction Company Operations (3 credits)

    • COSC 628 Construction Contracts and Risk Mgmt (3 credits)

    • COSC 631 Advanced Productivity and Lean (3 credits)

No more than nine credit hours may be taken outside of construction science.

Earn Your Degree Online

The Department of Construction Science is excited to offer the Master of Science in Construction Management degree program. We will be offering both spring and fall admission cycles. Applications for Spring admittance will be accepted from August 15 – December 1, and applicants will be notified no later than December 15 with admission decisions. Applications for Fall and future fall admittance will be open each year August 1 – July 1 and applicants will be notified no later than August 1 with admission decisions. Applicants who submit applications later than July 1 will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Prior AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) experience will be prioritized in the admission decision process.
