Summer Study Abroad

The abroad program is offered every Summer Session 1 lasting roughly the full month of June. The location of the program varies by summer, but has taken students to London (and surrounding areas), Ireland, Scotland, Spain and Germany.  The itinerary varies slightly every summer to maximize the opportunities for students.

The summer study abroad program is offered every year during Summer Session I, lasting roughly the full month of June. This program starts in London, where students have the opportunity to visit various active construction sites, meet with solicitors and barristers, and enjoy many of the amazing sights, sounds, and tastes that London has to offer. In addition to London, the summer program has also visited Edinburg, York, Oxford, London, Ireland, Scotland and Germany, with the itinerary varying slightly every summer. This program offers students the opportunity for maximum travel and impact, while giving up the minimal amount of time away from "home" here in the States.

COSC 463. Introduction to Construction Law. Credit 3.

Introduction to basic contract and tort issues and their application in the construction industry; delineation of the various types of contracts and remedies available to parties involved in a construction project; additional related topics including bidding, delays, mechanics liens, site conditions, warranties and the Uniform Commercial Code as it relates to the construction industry, introduction to legal research and reasoning as used by professional constructors.

COSC 489. Directed Studies. Credit 3.

Selected topics in an identified field of construction science. May be repeated for credit.
