The total cost this year is $700. The $700 will be payable upon the student's acceptance into the program, and will cover tuition, room and board in a university residence hall, and project materials and supplies.
No, it does not. Transportation to and from College Station will be the responsibility of the student and his/her family. The College Station/Bryan area is served by a Greyhound bus station, Easterwood Airport (which has multiple daily flights to and from both DFW and Houston/Bush Intercontinental), and is less than two hours' drive from Houston and Austin, and about three hours' drive from San Antonio and the DFW Metroplex.
Yes, the total cost of $700 for this year includes room and board. The students will be housed in a university Southside residence hall, and will have their meals catered.
That's up to you. The program cost includes all required supplies, but students may bring some basic art supplies if they wish. Students will probably want to bring a camera, a book bag/backpack, and an umbrella, as they will be walking around campus every day. Also recommended is a little bit of spending money in case students want to buy an extra snack somewhere or a souvenir at the University Bookstore.
ALL students who have completed 9th grade or higher are eligible to attend. This also includes students who are graduating in June, even if they're already planning to attend Texas A&M University .
No. Experience is helpful, but not at all necessary. Students will receive instruction and guidance from both faculty and current students, and the projects assigned will all be at an introductory level.
Students are selected based on academic performance and essay response.
Yes, you can. You will, however, be responsible for the parking fees for your vehicle, which is $12 per day. You will also need to let the program coordinator know that you are bringing a car for the duration of the program. Temporary summer camp parking permits can be purchased online at: http://transport.tamu.edu/specialevents/conference.aspx. Campers will not be allowed to drive the vehicle during the duration of the camp and will only have access to it at the start and end of the camp.
If you need to leave before the program is over, we can make arrangements for you to do so. Please notify Ann Broussard.
A map of campus and parking instructions will be mailed out to each camper upon acceptance into the program. An interactive campus map can be found at: http://maps.tamu.edu/.
The sooner the better, but we will accept applications that are postmarked on May 1st, 2012.
