The College of Architecture is immensely grateful to the generous donors who have endowed positions for the following faculty members within our college's four departments.


Cecil O. Windsor, Jr. ’66 Professorship in Construction Science

Dr. KC Choi utilized funds from the Cecil O. Windsor, Jr. ’66 Professorship in Construction Science to support the dissemination of his research related to autonomous decision support models at the annual conference of the Transportation Research Board, as well as to support the efforts of two doctoral students.


Charles Dewey McMullan Chair in Construction Science

Dr. Patrick Suermann holds the Charles Dewey McMullan Chair in Construction Science and utilized funds to assist with his research in firefighter virtual reality training, as well as to bolster the department through faculty and staff appreciation programs.


Clark Construction Group, Inc. Endowed Professorship in Construction Science

Dr. Amir Behzadan is the holder of the Clark Construction Group, Inc. Endowed Professorship in Construction Science. The funds from his professorship, along with grant support, resulted in the publication of more than a half dozen peer reviewed journal articles over the past year. 


David Woodcock Professorship in Historic Preservation

Dr. Kevin Glowacki utilized a portion of the funds generated by the David Woodcock Professorship in Historic Preservation to attend the Association for Preservation Technology Conference where he was part of a ceremony recognizing a College of Architecture graduate student as a Student Scholar. 


Donna Beth and Jim Thompson ’68 Leadership Professorship

Larry Fickel holds the Donna Beth and Jim Thompson ’68 Leadership Professorship. Fickel utilizes these funds to support activities in the courses he offers in service to the College’s interdisciplinary leadership minor. 


George W. Seagraves ’80 Faculty Fellowship in Residential Construction

 

Randy Birdwell holds the George W. Seagraves ’80 Faculty Fellowship in Residential Construction. Birdwell utilized these funds to support the National Association of Home Builders competition team, comprised of students from four disciplines and which increased in size this year from six to 12 team members.


Harold L. Adams ’61 Interdisciplinary Professorship in Architecture

Rodney Hill, holder of the Harold L. Adams ’61 Interdisciplinary Professorship in Architecture, gave several keynote addresses on the topic of the Future of the Built Environment and continued to provide leadership support for the interdisciplinary activities made available to students in the College. 


Harold L. Adams ’61 Interdisciplinary Professorship in Construction Science

Dr. Zofia Rybkowski holds the Harold L. Adams ’61 Interdisciplinary Professorship in Construction Science and utilized these funds to support the second annual Harold L. Adams Interdisciplinary Charrette for Undergraduates, a competition that brings together undergraduates from all five disciplines.


Harold L. Adams ’61 Interdisciplinary Professorship of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning

 

Dr. Dawn Jourdan holds the Harold L. Adams ’61 Interdisciplinary Professorship of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning as of September 1, 2019. 


Harold L. Adams ’61 Interdisciplinary Professorship in Visualization

Dr. Carol LaFayette is the holder of the Harold L. Adams ’61 Interdisciplinary Professorship in Visualization. LaFayette uses these funds to support interdisciplinary research with her students, including ecological evaluations on rangeland properties and biological imaging of bacteria.


History Maker Homes Endowed Professorship in Construction Science

 

Dr. Ryan Ahn is the holder of the History Maker Homes Endowed Professorship in Construction Science as of September 1, 2019.


James C. Smith ’70 Professorship in Construction Science

Dr. Sarel Lavy holds the James C. Smith ’70 Professorship in Construction Science and utilized the funds to support various professional development activities, such as attending conferences and travel, including to Liverpool, United Kingdom where Lavy was a Visiting Research Fellow in Summer-Fall 2018.

Dr. David Jeong is the holder of the James C. Smith ’70 Professorship in Construction Science as of September 1, 2019.


James M. Singleton IV ’66 FAIA Educational Architecture Professor

 

Dr. Xuemei Zhu is the holder of the James M. Singleton IV ’66 FAIA Educational Architecture Professor as of September 1, 2019.


John Only Greer Architectural Heritage Professorship

Dr. Lou Tassinary is the holder of the John Only Greer Architectural Heritage Professorship. Tassinary has used these funds to support a membership in an international scientific society and purchase statistical/visualization software and hardware.


Julie and Craig Beale ’71 Professorship in Health Facilities Design

Dr. Kirk Hamilton utilized funds from the Julie and Craig Beale ’71 Professorship in Health Facilities Design to support graduate students conducting research at the intersection of health care and architecture. 


Liz and Nelson Mitchell Professorship in Residential Design

Dr. Charles Culp is the holder of the Liz and Nelson Mitchell Professorship in Residential Design. Funds from this professorship have been utilized to support the activities related to inventing, engineering and constructing the enthalpy recovery ventilator, a game-changing device for air flow within structures. 


Mattia Flabiano III, AIA/Page Southerland Page Design Professorship

 

Dr. Wei Yan utilized funds from the Mattia Flabiano III, AIA/Page Southerland Page Design Professorship to purchase a high-end computer that supports his and his students’ research in computational methods for architectural design and artificial intelligence/deep learning.


Merry K. Raba ’84 and William L. Raba ’86 Professorship

 

Dr. Phil Lewis holds the Merry K. Raba ’84 and William L. Raba ’86 Professorship as of September 1, 2019.


Nicole and Kevin Youngblood Professorship in Residential Land Development

 

Dr. Galen Newman holds the Nicole and Kevin Youngblood Professorship in Residential Land Development as of September 1, 2019.


Rodney Hill Professorship in Creativity and Design

 

Dr. Jinsil Seo is the holder of the Rodney Hill Professorship in Creativity and Design as of September 1, 2019.


Ronald L. Skaggs Endowed Professorship in Health Facilities

George Mann continued to utilize the resources of the Ronald L. Skaggs Endowed Professorship in Health Facilities Design to support the Architecture for Health Visiting Lecture Series, bringing experts in the field to campus to share their experience with students and faculty across the university.


Ronald L. Skaggs and Joseph G. Sprague Chair in Health Facilities Design

Dr. Ray Pentecost utilized funds from the Ronald L. Skaggs and Joseph G. Sprague Chair in Health Facilities Design to support the growth of programs related to the Center for Health Systems and Design, including development of a new Health Track in the Master of Architecture program, and fostering the third year of the interdisciplinary Academic Circle.


Sandra and Bryan Mitchell Endowed Professorship in Construction Science

Dr. Phil Lewis holds the Sandra and Bryan Mitchell Endowed Professorship in Construction Science.  Lewis utilized the funds from this professorship to grow his research in the area of the economic, energy, and environmental impacts of off-road heavy-duty diesel construction equipment. 


Sandy and Bryan Mitchell Master Builder Chair

Dr. Walter Gillis Peacock holds the Sandy and Bryan Mitchell Master Builder Chair. Peacock utilized these funds to support students in all programs and departments throughout the College of Architecture as they research residential housing and development related issues.


Wallie E. Scott, Jr. Endowed Professorship in Architectural Practice and Management

Michael O’Brien is the holder of the Wallie E. Scott, Jr. Endowed Professorship in Architectural Practice and Management. O’Brien utilized these for equipment upgrades and disseminating scholarly research, as well as field service in several Texas counties. Funds also support the development of alternative designs for Fayette County Habitat houses.


William M. Pena Endowed Professorship in Information Management

 

Dr. Mark Clayton is the holder of the William M. Pena Endowed Professorship in Information Management as of September 1, 2019.
