Camp Arch

Date: July 8 - 14, 2018

Camp ARCH is a summer camp designed to give high achieving students an opportunity to experience the professions of Architecture, Construction, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, and Visual Design. For one week, participants are taught by faculty and current students from the College of Architecture. Each class will introduce students to the fundamentals of the field while allowing them to explore and expand upon their abilities to create and construct projects.

 

CAMP ARCH APPLICATION INFORMATION

Date:        July 8 - July 14, 2018

Age:         Incoming 10th, 11th, & 12th Grade Students* (Students graduating high school in Spring of 2018 are ineligible to attend)

Cost:        $1,200.00* (Price includes: meals, living in dorm, social activities, and takeaways)

What sessions are offered?

Architecture

The Architecture course mirrors the design studio aspects that students in the Department of Architecture experience throughout the year and culminates in the creation of a hand-built 3D model using CAD software, laser cutting, and other specialized tools.

Construction Science

The Construction Science course allows students to participate in design/building, site visits, building information modeling (BIM), interactive lectures, and specialized presentations by faculty in the Department of Construction Science.

Landscape and Urban Planning

The Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning course mirrors elements of professional design studios and encourages creative individual thought within a team dynamic. Students explore three dimensional space arrangements, form making, spatial functions, and procure the ability to create and communicate designs for the public realm.

Visualization

The Visualization course gives students the opportunity to design and create their own visual marketing campaign for a new brand with a small team of partners. Students will be responsible for developing a logo, collateral material, and a motion ad campaign.

How to be admitted?

Students interested in the camp should express their interest in any of the above mentioned sessions. Students who are able to clearly articulate their desire to attend Camp ARCH, and has a strong academic record will be accepted. All applications will be reviewed after all applications have been submitted. Students admitted into the Camp will be enrolled in one of the sessions, depending on availability. Students will be notified by email or mail of their acceptance to Camp Arch by the end of April.
