Biography
Scott Slaney '76 (BSLA) is a design principal with Terrain Studio a landscape archiecture, planning and urban design firm with offices in San Francisco practicing domestically and internationally. Prior to that he was founding and Managing Principal of SWA Houston. He has received approximately 40 professional awards, including the ASLA Award of Excellence for "Heart of the Park" at Hermann Park in Houston; the ULI Global Award of Excellence for "Hangzhou HuBin Redevelopment" in Hangzhou, China; the Texas ASLA Honor Award for "Uptown Houston Streetscape Program" and the Texas ASLA Award of Excellence for "Cy-Fair College" in Houston. Slaney has dedicated his personal energy to neighborhood revitalization through pro-bono design including Old Sixth Ward Park, Houston; a park for the arts, built for the Multi-Ethnic-Cultural-Arts group; and improvements to create Travis Park, a park cited in 2002 by the Project for Public Spaces as one of the country's best public open spaces. In recognition Mr. Slaney was honored in 2011 with the annual Community Service Award given by the Texas Chapter of ASLA
