Transfer Applicants are students who have at least 24 credit hours of college credit from a university or community college other than Texas A&M University and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Starting fall 2013, Transfer Students can apply directly to University Studies – Global Arts, Planning, Design & Construction (USAR). You will be required to submit additional requirements (extra essay) when you apply, but you should be provided with those requirements when you submit your application. The USAR degree requires that students complete 2 minors. Those minors will be officially discussed and assigned at your New Student Conference, but you need to mention your desired minors when you apply.
We would like to highly encourage you to meet with the USAR Advisor in advance if you are interested in transferring into this major. This will also allow for the Advisor to discuss the major with you, unofficially review your transcripts and address any questions you have.
Applications for transfer students are handled by the Office of Admissions at Texas A&M University. You must apply at http://admissions.tamu.edu/transfer. Any questions about application deadlines, application requirements, and if your application materials have been received need to be directed to the Office of Admissions.
Keep in mind we do not review 2nd choice majors.
In addition to the extra essay, we highly encourage applicants to utilize Essay Topic C in the Texas Common Application to discuss your interest in University Studies – Global Arts, Planning, Design & Construction. In the essay, discuss what 2 minors you would like to pursue, your intended career path, how this major will help you, etc.
Transfer students must have the following in order to apply:
*As determined by Texas A&M's Office of Admissions
Although we do not require specific coursework for transfer students, we do recommend students complete certain coursework prior to applying. We recommend prospective transfer applicants complete at least one math course, any introductory courses to your desired minors (if available), and as much of their university core curriculum requirements that they can at their current school. Please reference the USAR Degree Plan and Texas Common Course Numbering System for assistance.
